James Armour's reminiscences of life in the Victorian colony provide a descriptive account of the diggings, the bush, and Melbourne, with some fictitious elements. Designed as a short pamphlet, this conversational narrative has been selected from incidences and events drawn from Armour's three years in the colony. Armour notes in his introduction that these anecdotes are intended as entertaining adventures for those who rarely leave their home. It includes a trip to Bendigo, the diggings, Melbourne, as well as a romanticised account of courtship and marriage.
