Bagryana Popov is a theatre artist and researcher. In 2018, she was teaching theatre at La Trobe University, a role she had held for some time.
With some exceptions, Popov primarily works as a director or dramaturg. She has worked on collaborative and site-specific works across Australia, including a site-specific, durational version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya (performed at Bundanon, co-produced by La Mama) and a a physical theatre adaptation of The Cherry Orchard (as Progress and Melancholy). Her works examining migrant experience include directing Sarajevo Suite.
