Notes

  • Originally published in the Armidale Budget in 1896 (untraced).
  • Plagiarism accusation:

The story was published in the Truth under a letter from Glass, asserting that it had been plagiarised, two years earlier, by C. Jardyne Paton and published in the Sunday Times under the title 'Dispersed'. The two stories are presented side by side, Glass's labelled 'Original and Geuine' and Paton's labelled 'The Forgery', with similar passages italicised.
