One of several BBC radio adaptations of Chu Chin Chow, this time adapted by script-writer Desmond Davis.

Production Details

  • First broadcast on BBC's Light Programme, 24 December 1951.

    Producer: Desmond Davis.

    Music: BBC Opera Chorus and BBC Opera Orchestra.

    Conductor: Charles Prentice.

    Cast members included Norman Lumsden (Abu Hassan, the Shayk of the Robbers), Appleton Moore (Abullah, Steward in Kasim Baba's household / Baba Mustapha, a cobbler), Lorely Dyer (Marjanah, a slave), Jan Van Der Gucht (Ali Baba, Kasim Baba's brother), Dennis Bowen (Nur Al-Huda All, Ali Baba's son), Laelia Finneberg (Alcolom, Kasim's head wife), and Arthur Young (Rhamat-el-Ali-Muzrab, a teller of tales).
