History

Inaugurated in 2015, this award is named after one of Australia's premier art dealers, Philip Bacon, who has agreed to be the patron of Queensland's only ekphrastic prize. The award is presented during the Queensland Poetry Festival.

The award was later superseded by the QRAA Ekphrasis Challenge, in which poets respond specifically to artworks in the Queensland Regional Art Awards.
