AbstractHistoryArchive Description

'Honouring the Boys from Barambah is a 17 minute film which tells the amazing story of the contribution of our small community (Cherbourg, formerly known as Barambah) to the Great War of 1914-18.'

'It pays tribute to the bravery of our Black Diggers and shows the community’s efforts to pass on the spirit of the Anzacs to the younger generations. It touches on issues such as racism and enlistment, the hardships of returned Indigenous servicemen, personal stories of war and service, and it honours the individual stories of the Boys from Barambah.' Notes

  • The film is part of a larger Boys from Barambah project which includes an exhibition, a book, a website and a new honour board in the Cherbourg Memorial Park.
