BiographyHistory

Lothian Custom Publishing offers a complete self-publishing service from original idea to finished book. For an agreed fee, the company can help develop a writer's plans for publication and manage all the processes that lead to a successful book or online work.

The company is co-owned by Peter Lothian and John Ross. Lothian, a fourth generation Managing Director of Lothian Books, a well respected and successful Australian owned publisher and distributor established in 1888. After selling the business in 2006 he worked for three years as CEO of Collins Booksellers, before founding Lothian Custom Publishing.

John Ross has had extensive experience as a publisher with firms such as Macmillan, Thames and Hudson and as Managing Director in the partnership of Currey, O'Neil Ross. His early background is as a journalist with the Age, and as editor of Walkabout magazine. He has worked as a freelance editor, publisher, author and consultant to most Australian publishers at some time, in addition to running his own business.
