'Jeannine Baker has been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Media, Music, Communication and Cultural Studies at Macquarie University, where she is researching the female audience for Australian radio from the 1930s onwards. Her PhD thesis (2013), about Australian women war reporters during the Second World War, was awarded the Denis-Wettenhall Prize for the best history thesis at the University of Melbourne. She has also worked as a public historian in the broadcast media and museum sectors. She wrote and directed the television documentary Our Drowned Town (SBS, 2001) about the flooding of Adaminaby for the Snowy Mountains Scheme, and produced the radio documentary feature Fler and the Modernist Impulse (ABC RN, 2011), about Australian modernist furniture design.
