Shelley Davidow is originally from South Africa, and grew up in a bi-racial family at the height of Apartheid: her family is also Ashkenazi Jewish, as she sets out in her joint autobiography with Haimaa Khalil. She left South Africa as a young adult. Over the next two decades, she has lived and worked on five continents, before settling on Australia’s East Coast. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Witw, Braamfontein; a Masters of Science (Education) from Sunbridge College, New York; and a PhD (Creative Arts) from the University of the Sunshine Coast. In 2018, she was a lecturer in curriculum and pedagogy at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
