Little is known of the plot of this drama, although one review of a later performance labelled it a 'melodramatic trifle' ('W.E.A. Dramatic Society', Advertiser, 4 August 1930, p.7).
The earliest production so far traced was by the Melbourne Theatre Guild, who produced The Celebrity (along with three other one-act plays) at Nicholas Building, Swanston, on 14 and 15 April 1930. (See 'Entertainments', The Argus, 15 April 1930, p.15).
