Born: Established: 1882 ; Died: Ceased: 24 Dec 1934 Los Angeles, California,
Not to be confused with American-born actor Gilbert Emery (1875 - 1945). Born Gilbert Emery Bensley Pottle, he appeared in more than 80 films between 1921 and his death.
In early 1935 Emery was reported in a number of Australian newspapers as dying on the same day as fellow actor and friend Walter Cornock (both men were associated with filmed versions of The Sentimental Bloke). These papers included Melbourne's Argus (1 February 1935, p.12) and Adelaide's Advertiser (1 February 1935, p.14). However, as the The Newcastle Sun (the first Australian paper to report on Emery's death) records - Cornock died in Sydney on 28 January 1935, while Emery passed away in Los Angeles on Christmas Eve, 1934 (29 January 1935, p.7).
