Palmer attended private Catholic day school, Mercedes College.
Palmer made her film debut as an actress in teen drama 2:37. The film competed at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.
Palmer has starred in Australian and international films. In 2014 she co-wrote The Ever After, a feature drama.
Together with husband Mark Webber, Teresa Palmer has son Bodhi Palmer (b. 17 February, 2014) and is stepmother to Isaac Love.
