Sarah Mills arrived in Australia aged four, and settled with her family in Port Stephens. The family later moved around Australia and settled in Melbourne. Mills studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, and worked as a journalist on major metropolitan newspapers for twenty years.
In 2018, Mills and Kate Forsyth launched Word of Mouth TV, a combination cooking and book-review show on YouTube.
