BiographyHistory

Perhaps best known for 'My Pretty Red Rose,' which sold more than 500,000 copies in the US alone, Joseph Skelly was an American songwriter whose songs were popular in Australia during the late nineteenth century. One of his compositions, 'The Dying Scout,' written to words by Beaumont Read, was published in Australia by Joe Slater Publishing almost 20 years after his death, and some four years after Beaumont Read's passing.
