    In a letter published in a Launceston newspaper, G.R. Ireland went to some length to emphasise that they were not performing George Leitch's version:

    we beg to state we do possess what they call their version, but from a past verdict bestowed upon it in other places, we wouId not produce it or another would-be author's version, Mr Inigo Tyrell's. [...] With regard to the conversation between Mr M'Mahon and myself, I stated that if our version resembled any other, it was Mr Dampier's [Thomas Walker's adaptation]— that I would not risk a penny on the one he proffered to me.
