Philip Ross, playing William Charles Wentworth, was forced to withdraw partway through filming, when he was diagnosed with hepatitis. His role was taken by Earle Cross. (See 'Why Wentworth Looked Old', Australian Women's Weekly, 26 July 1961, p.19).
