1 1 The Spirit of Lanky Owen Love , 2000 single work drama Indigenous story

'Silence is just a moment to hear the stories on the wind. The Niricha is the wind that the Boandik people of the South East of South Australia rely on to hear the messages their ancestors have to tell them. Through the stories told in this unique sensory installation, we learn of the devastation caused to the land from irrigation practices over the last 100 years. The River Murray mouth closes regularly, the bird life numbers have decreased close to extinction levels and the people no longer live on the land. The wind is our storyteller. Lanky Kana was the last of his people, the Wilchum mo.' (Source: AusStage website)
