BiographyHistory

Composer, songwriter, music director/conductor, writer, teacher, arranger, musician (pianio)

Heinz Schweers was educated at Sydney's Cranbrook School (1983-1988). He became an Associate of the Trinity College of Music, London (Piano Performance) in 1987 and while undertaking a Bachelor of Economics degree at Sydney University (199-1993) completed a Licentiate Diploma of Music in Piano Performance through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Schweers undertook a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney in 1994 and has since studied under concert pianist Leslie Howard in London.

Since the late 1990s Schweers has been involved in numerous music theatre productions (as musician, composer and music director/conductor) as well as concerts in England, Germany and Australia. His work in Australia includes working as Barry Humphries accompanist (1995), writing, directing, and performing in the Seymour Centre (Sydney) productions Kathleen Ferrier: A Time of Kings and Queens (2004) and Noel and Cole: Lives in Exile (2005), and composing and/or directing the music for such works as Tango Masculino (2007, New Theatre), The Curious Pain of Louis XIV (2007, Seymour Centre), Hell Hath No Fury (2007, Newtown Theatre), A Nasty Piece of Work (2008, New Theatre), Burnt by the Sun (2010, New Theatre), and 40 In Song (2010).
