Notes

  • William Leman Rede's The Rake's Progress is included in AustLit because it was produced in Australian theatres during the colonial era.
  • William Leman Rede wrote two plays titled The Rake's Progress – an 1833 melodrama and an 1841 drama. AustLit has not yet established which version was produced in Melbourne in 1868. (There is another English play titled The Rake's Progress written by Charles Dibdin. It is definitely one of Leman's plays that was performed at the Duke of Edinburgh Theatre, Melbourne.)

Production Details

  • Performed at the Duke of Edinburgh Theatre (aka Haymarket Theatre), Melbourne, 16-19 May 1868.
