    3. Prelude to War (2 July 1963)

In 1877, Ned Kelly and his step-father, George King , realised that their profitable horse-stealing activities were attracting the attention of the police. Ned, aged twenty-two, already had a criminal record. They decided to move out before the law caught up with them. (Radio Times, 27 June 1963, p.31.)

    4. Wanted–Preferably Dead! (9 July 1963)

In October 1878 Ned Kelly with his brother Dan and two mates, Joe Byrne and Steve Hart , were in hiding in the Wombat ranges. They discovered that a police party had made camp not far from them. (Radio Times, 4 July 1963, p.29.)

    5. Euroa to Jerilderie (16 July 1963)

On December 10, 1878, the Kelly gang robbed a bank at Euroa. With their loot and fourteen hostages they started back for their temporary headquarters at Faith-full's Creek. (Radio Times, 11 July 1963, p.31.)

    6. A Town at Bay (23 July 1963)

On February 8, 1879, the Kelly gang crossed the border from their own colony of Victoria into New South Wales, planning to rob the bank in the small town of Jcrilderie. Late on that Saturday night, Ned rode boldly up to the police station. (Radio Times, 18 July 1963, p.31.)

    7. Death or Glory (30 July 1963)

By February 1879, the reward for the capture of the notorious Kelly gang had been increased to £8,000. In March, Ned insisted that the gang should change their hide-out to a hut on the bleak Bogong high plains. By April, they were snowbound. (Radio Times, 25 July 1963, p.29.)

    8. The Siege of Glenrowan (6 August 1963)

On June 27, 1880, the Kelly gang emerged from hiding and took over the small township of Glenrowan. Anticipating the arrival of police reinforcements by special train, the Kellys planned to wreck it by tearing up a length of railway line outside the town. (Radio Times, 1 August 1963, p.27.)
