'Chalmers, of course, has the role of the hero. He is the first mate of a wrecked ship, the crew of which and a pretty girl passenger are cast upon an island. The crew comprises foreigners of the usual evil design and variety, and Chalmers saves the pirl from them. He is captured, and she escapes into the bush, and is subsequently rescued by a retired naval officer. The hero, too, is saved from death as a result of a unique set of circumstances, and a little later the wedding takes place, and "they live happily ever after."'
