BiographyHistory

James Maclehose published The Picture of Sydney and Stranger's Guide in New South Wales for 1838 and The Picture of Sydney and Stranger's Guide for 1839. Maclehose also published almanacs.

Newspaper advertisements In January 1838 for the 1838 edition of the Picture of Sydney gave James Maclehose's business address as Hunter-street, Sydney. The advertisements in December 1838 for the 1839 version gave his address as 'no. 6, Hunter-street, Sydney'.

The Power House Museum catalogue record for the Picture of Sydney and Stranger's Guide states that James Maclehose was a Scottish immigrant.
