Little is known about the plot of this film, but a contemporary newspaper report from a Newcastle paper notes that:

It is full of thrilling adventure and exciting experience at sea and in foreign parts, with all the elements of romance and mystery woven into the plot.

Notes

  • A highly obscure film, little is known of the crew behind this production. In 1917, John F. Gavin was still offering the film to distributors (see, for example, the advertisement in the Sunday Times, 26 August 1917, p.21), so it seems likely that it, like the other films on offer, was directed by Gavin and written by Agnes Gavin. However, this cannot be confirmed. The film was made after Gavin left Crick and Finlay's company and before his work with the Australian Famous Feature Company, and has therefore been attributed to John F. Gavin Productions, his company of the early 1910s.
  • The film's cinematographer, Albert Sculthorpe (later Mayor of St Kilda), recalls aspects of making the film in a later newspaper article: '"That Reminds Me ..." Says Mr. A. Sculthorpe', The Argus, 24 May 1939, p.8.
