  • According to contemporary news reports:

    One big scene in the big Australian production which finishes at West's tonight, "The Man from Snowy River," is the country race meeting. To get this properly. Beaumont Smith arranged to have one of his own, and so fixed up the Luddenham showground as a course. He donated prices for four races, and horse-men from as far as Camden, on the south, and Penrith, in the north, came, and the events were hotly contested. Local horse-men also took part in the famous chase after the colt in the mountains. Altogether the district had a very good time, while the Beaumont Smith Film Company were there.'
