A report on the 22 August 1868 meeting 'of the friends and supporters' of the Freeman's Journal at the Commercial Hotel, Taralga. The meeting passed the following resolutions (among others): 'That this meeting pledges itself to assist and co-operate with the Catholics in other districts in defending the Freeman's Journal against what we regard as an unjust and malicious prosecution of that paper by the Attorney-General' and 'That a subscription-list be opened for the purpose of collecting funds to carry out the first resolution'.
