AbstractHistoryArchive Description

A report on the meeting of 'the friends and supporters' of the Freeman's Journal at Mr. P. Kenna's Miners Arms Inn, Orange, on 27 August 1868. The resolution of the meeting was: 'Resolved that this meeting considers, that the prosecution initiated by the Attorney General against the proprietors of the Freeman's Journal, is not in vindication of the law, but intended to crush that journal in consequence of the independent course it has taken under the present Administration'. A further resolution instigated a pledge to raise funds to support the journal.
