AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The fifth item in the Freeman's Journal's weekly news summary concerns the role of the editor of the Sydney Morning Herald. The writer for Freeman's argues that the Herald's editor is publishing a 'paid libeller and reviler of every object held dear by Catholics, not only in this colony but all over the world'. The author of the 'paid libels' is the Herald's foreign correspondent, the US-based Anna Blackwell, writing under the pseudonym 'Stella'.
