BiographyHistory

Charles Dibdin was an English actor, composer and writer. Some of his works were produced in the Australian colonies in the nineteenth century.

His sons Thomas Dibdin (1771-1841) and Charles Dibdin the Younger (1768-1833) were also involved in English theatrical life. Charles Dibdin's grandson (son of Thomas), another Charles Dibdin (1815-1868), came to Australia in the early 1840s and had at least two plays performed on the Sydney stage.
