  • The advertisement for the Royal Victoria Theatre, Sydney, season in September 1838 describes the play as 'a Drama in three Acts, founded on Victor Hugo's celebrated Romance of the Hunchback.' The play may be a version of an international play or a local adaptation of Hugo's novel into a drama. AustLit has not yet established which version of the play was produced in Sydney in September 1838.
