John Stephen Lynch worked for many years in the New South Wales Government Printing Office and, at one time, was the Printing Office's publisher. He achieved fame as the winner of the [1868?] Great International Rifle Match and was a regular winner of inter-colonial small bore shooting matches during the 1860s.
