BiographyHistory

William Jerdan was a British journalist and antiquary. He wrote National Portrait Gallery of Illustrious and Eminent Personages of the Nineteenth Century (1834) described by Beverly E. Schneller in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography online as 'a book of memoirs of living popular personalities'. The chapter on John Franklin was republished in nineteenth century Australian newspapers including the Cornwall Chronicle and the Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser.
