Notes

  • This poem heads an advertisement for Phillip M'Carroll's Sydney butcheries.

M'Carroll's first name is variously spelled 'Philip' and 'Phillip' in advertisements appearing in Sydney newspapers. In Sydney's Sands Directory for 1868, the name appears with the double 'l' and this form is used consistently in AustLit, regardless of the spelling in individual advertisements.
