(1840-1891) Italian actor, manager, lessee entrepreneur, producer.
Eduardo Majeroni and his wife Giula (1850-1903) came to the Australasian region with Giula's aunt Adelaide Ristori in 1875. As actors both were endowed with a powerful stage presence, and in this respect were suited almost exclusively to playing stately historical characters.
Between 1884 and 1886 Eduardo co-managed the Sydney Opera House with W. J. Wilson. During that time they produced such works as Luscombe Searelle and Walter Parke's opera Bobadil (1884), and several dramas by George Darrell, notably a revival of Back from the Grave(1884) and The Naked Truth and Man and Wife (both 1885).
In 1885 the pair took Majeroni and Wilson's Grand Comic Opera Company to Melbourne's Bijou Theatre where among other works they staged Searelle's Isidora. That same year they presented the Bijou Comedy Company at the Opera House (Sydney) and contracted Searelle and Harding's Comic and English Opera Company to play there the following year. 1886 also saw the pair return to the Bijou with another company, staging such productions as George Darrell's The New Rush and The Soggarth (15 Jan. 1887). Another notable production staged by Majeroni and Wilson in 1887 was Walter S. Craven's Hide and Seek (Opera House, Syd; 26 Feb.).
In addition to his partnership with Wilson, Majeroni also managed the Theatre Royal for J. C. WilliamsonJ.C. Williamson. He died in Sydney in 1891, aged only 51, and is buried in Waverley Cemetery alongside his wife.
