BiographyHistory

Various branches of the 'Band of Hope' were formed in the Australian colonies during the nineteenth century. Their aim was to teach children the value of temperance. The Prince Alfred Branch was established in early May 1868 following 'a tea and public meeting' in the Temperance Hall, Pitt Street, Sydney.
