Notes

  • Charles Dickens's Oliver Twist was adapted by several writers, including adaptations by à Beckett, G. Almar and C. Z. Barnett in 1838, an adaptation by E. Stirling in 1839, one by W. H. Murray in 1840, another by C. H. Hazlewood in 1855, and then again by J. Mordaunt in 1856. Further adaptations were produced in 1868 and 1891. AustLit has not yet established which version was produced in Sydney in 1868.
  • The international drama Oliver Twist is included in AustLit because it was produced in Australian theatres during the colonial era.
