An advertisement for the Royal Victoria Theatre production of Dion Boucicault's Corsican Brothers and of Jack Sheppard on 4 August 1868.
An advertisement, probably placed by Samuel Bennett (sole proprietor, printer and publisher of the Empire), for the sale of a single cylinder printing machine. The sale is being offered 'to make room for a new machine daily expected from England'.
The Empire reports that 'Mr. and Mrs George Case' will be visiting Sydney 'where they will give a series of their inimitable drawing room entertainments'.
'Justice to the Dead' writes of the final act of compassion exercised by Dr William Bland prior to his death – despite his own ill health, he went to the home of 'a poor woman in her confinement'. The letter concludes: 'After leaving the house of his patient, a one pound note was found on the table of the sick and needy woman.'
