A report on the 'first of a series of lectures on poetry ... delivered in the School of Arts on Friday evening [22 June 1838] ... by William a'Beckett ...' The report commends William a'Beckett and mentions that the audience 'included several ladies ... [and] was highly respectable, and so numerous as completely to fill the room.'
