BiographyHistory

Florentine artist Signor Ugo Catani moved to Australia in 1885 with Marhcese Girolamo, another artist from the same Italian city. The pair opened up a studio at 5 Collins Street, Melbourne, October or early November that same year (Argus 17 November 1885, p.5). Two years later Catani collaborated with composer Alfred Plumpton on the opera I Due Studenti.
