AbstractHistoryArchive Description

The 'Flaneur' muses on Sydney's recent political and social occurrences, including the demolition of structures in Hyde Park and Circular Quay that were erected for H. R. H. Prince Alfred's visit; and the naming of babies, born during the visit, as 'Alfred' or 'Alfredia'. The 'Flaneur' also ponders allegations of the rise of secret societies in Sydney.

This article includes a poem written in French (separately indexed).
