BiographyHistory

Charles Mathews was an English actor and playwright some of whose plays were produced in the Australian colonies in the nineteenth century.

A column on the life of Mathews, 'consisting of extracts ... from the interesting articles, entitled Personal Recollections of the Late Charles Mathews, which have appeared in successive numbers of the Court Magazine', was published in the Perth Gazette and Western Australian Journal in 1838.
