BiographyHistory

Miss Aitken was a Scottish elocutionist and actor who travelled to the Australian colonies in the 1860s and performed in various colonies. In early 1868 she gave a series of recitals in Sydney with Thomas Padmore Hill, and performed the role of Madge Wildfire in an adaptation of Sir Walter Scott's The Heart of Midlothian at the Prince of Wales Opera House.
