Pyterruner was among five Tasmanian Aboriginal people who conducted a campaign of resistance to European settlement in 1841. The other four were Tunnerminnerwait, Maulboyheenner, Truganini and Planobeena. They were captured in November 1841 and charged with murder. The men Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner were executed, and Pyterruner and the other two women, found not guilty to the charges, were discharged.
