  • At head of article: 'The author of a series of papers in the Armidale Telegprah, entitled 'An Old Digger's Experience', relates the particulars of his acquaintance with a notorious swindler.'

    The 'swindler' in question is described in the article as 'John Macnamara', better known as 'Pat the Poet'. The authors writes that the 'Poet' had 'an extraordinary talent for speaking or addressing a crowd at any length, in perfect verse and good rhyme'.
