The Convict and the Australian Lady, Bon Gaultier , poetry satire

A satirical poem concerning a convict speaker pitching woo to a native Australian woman. Parodying the elevated style of courtly ballads, the poem draws on racist stereotypes of cannibalism, and satirises the lowly position of convict life.
