BiographyHistory

"Bon Gaultier" was a pseudonym used by Scottish writers William Edmondstoune Aytoun (1813–1865) and Theodore Martin (1816-1909). In the early 1840s they began publishing a series of humorous articles in Tait's Edinburgh Magazine; the articles included parodic and satirical poems which later formed the basis for the highly popular Bon Gaultier's Book of Ballads.
