BiographyHistory

Joseph Cook was born in London and arrived in New South Wales in 1849 bearing letters of introduction to the Church of England's Bishop Broughton. Following a period of illness, Cook established the printing and publishing firm of Joseph Cook and Co. The firm printed publications for a range of churches as well as translations of the Bible into various Pacific Islander languages.

Cook was a prominent churchman and a lay reader in the Church of England.
