In 1928 British National newspapers merged Eve: The Ladies Pictorial (founded 1919) with Britannia (founded 1928), initially with the latter publication's title only. In the May the following year the magazine was relaunched as Britannia and Eve: A Monthly Journal for Men and Women. The subtitle was dropped in the early 1930s, however, in response to its greater focus on women's fashion and the home. Advice, such as what to wear in the mornings and afternoons, appeared alongside short fiction by such authors as A.M. Burrage, Frank Maynell, Elinor Mordaunt, C.J. Cutcliffe Hyne and James Francis Dwyer.
Britannia and Eve's editors were Gilbert Fankau and Jesse Heitner.
