BiographyHistory

The Hearst Corporation is a multinational mass media group based in the Hearst Tower in New York City. Founded in 1887 by William Randolph Hearst (1863-1951) when he took over the San Francisco Examiner from his father George Hearst, the company's holdings have subsequently expanded to include a highly diversified portfolio of media interests. The Hearst family is involved in the ownership and management of the corporation.
