David Griffith Jones worked as a correspondent for the Sydney Morning Herald after his arrival in New South Wales. He later 'settled in Deniliquin to practice as a doctor but soon began the Pastoral Times' and 'was regarded as the pioneer of journalism in the area'.
Jones was the second husband of Caroline Lavinia Fitz Jones.
