Edwin Ingledew migrated to Tasmania from England. 'He took a prominent part in civic affairs at Devonport, being a warden of the Marine Board for a number of years and Master Warden for about three years, and a councillor and Warden of the Devonport Council for several years. He was engaged in business as a produce merchant and accountant, and was associated with the firm of Duncan Loane from 1922 to 1927. He left Tasmania for a period in Queensland, and on his return to Devonport carried on his accountancy business.'
